Title: What We Have Is Enough
Fandom: Baldur's Gate
Format & Word Count: Fic, 9,800 words (part 1, part 2)
Rating: PG
Cross-posted: ff.net, AO3
Warnings: Some violence, very minor language, and discussion of a couple offscreen canonical deaths. Also, angst. And fluff, mostly of the gen variety.
Summary: Skie Silvershield may be one of the richest girls in Baldur's Gate, but that doesn't mean she gets everything she wants--because what she really wants is adventure. One way or another.
Author's Note: And this is where things take a hard right onto Angst Boulevard, and I go even further into rampant speculation on motivations, reactions, magic, and plot developments, hopefully without making anyone too OOC in the process. Because of the story I wanted to tell, it doesn't quite follow canon as established by the game and the NPC Project mod, but it's just a few minor tweaks in dialogue and sequencing. See the end for more notes.

Author's Note: Additional happenings on the way back to Baldur's Gate, some of which are drawn from the NPC Project mod I used and some of which are my own rampant speculations and inventions. There is a little bit of angst at Candlekeep but this is mostly happy fluff of various kinds. Everything from here on is Skie's POV, for what it's worth.

Also, Imoen's characterization drives me nuts, because the character as portrayed in BG1 (modded, in my case, but I assume that's built on existing dialog) and the same person as shown in BG2 are...pretty different. I played BG2 first, so I'm more familiar with that Imoen and I prefer her, but there is canon, so I ended up with something sort of in the middle of the two. That may also mean my characterization of her from scene to scene is a little uneven.

Podfic: Yes, this fic now includes a PODFIC VERSION, which is the very first podfic I've done and so I'm kind of excited, even though it's probably not very good and doesn't have any sound effects or anything, just...me reading my fic...and so far only this first chapter is finished. But here it is.
Author's Note: Originally written for Yuletide 2010 for blueinkedpalm, although only the first chapter was actually posted for that; I added the other two later. I've only played through BG1 (with Tutu and the BG1 NPC Project, plus some more minor mods--like one that put a Bag of Holding in the game, PRAISE JESUS) and BG2 once each so far, so hopefully my canon knowledge is decent and nothing is too inaccurate. Well, and then there are things that probably don't work the way I show them working, like Arrows of Dispelling, but...it could happen, right?

The protagonist I used when I played through BG1 with Skie and Eldoth in my party was a neutral half-elven Totemic Druid named Sheyra, and her party had a heroic reputation by the time they reached Baldur's Gate. I wasn't going to use this character because every player's protagonist is different, but then the fic developed something resembling a plot, and trying to write around canon events and the protagonist's presence got a little ridiculous. I don't focus on Sheyra--from a fanfic perspective, she's technically an OC, after all--but she is in the story. For the purposes of this fic, though, she's probably closer to the human mage I played in BGII...I just didn't want to change her to "Maris" for this because uh, writing stuff like "Maris's" is really awkward. >_<

I'll be reposting the actual fic here and at ff.net before too long, but for now I'll just link to my author reveal post.
Title: Come Love, See My Hands
Fandom: Webbedmidenianscholar's original-fiction novel, posted for fantasybigbang
Subject: Well, it's a retelling of "The Frog Prince"...Lance is a prince born with webbed hands, a deformity that earned him rejection by his parents and a kind of exile in another country. Years later he runs into Adria, a princess who met him when he was little, and apparently they bicker their way into romance while trying to figure out what to do about the throne Lance should inherit.
Cross-posted: fantasybigbang
Warnings: Yeah, I really can't think of any.
Notes: If it seems like there's an unusually large amount of instrumental music, that's because there is, but it's not just because I couldn't find enough other songs--Lance, the protagonist, is a violinist, so when I asked Alyssa if she had anything specific in mind, she asked for songs with violin parts. I...may have gone a little overboard on that. Also, I am not in love with the cover art, but it's probably better than the more complicated thing I was hoping to do. The images are ones Alyssa tagged on Tumblr as reminding her of Lance and Adria.

fic, original fiction: moonstruck (part 3)

Title: Moonstruck
Fandom: original fiction
Word count: about 18,000
Rating: PG-13 to be safe, I guess
Warnings: Violence (mostly of a wolfy nature, but some isn't and a little is directed toward a child, so it could potentially be triggery for abuse), semi-graphic transformations, some very minor language.
Summary: Rae is a little girl when her dad is mauled by a wolf; when the full moon rises the next month and he turns into a monster, everything starts to come apart at the seams, and it falls to her to keep her family from completely self-destructing.
Notes: Part 1, part 2.

Notes: I guess I've been working on this, on and off, for three years. It made up a pretty significant part of my bachelor's thesis, which was nice, since that meant a lot less academic stuff to write. >_< This entry is public for now, but I'll probably lock it after a week or something, because...at some point I'd like to try to publish this and I'm paranoid about what counts as, you know, publishing as far as first rights go and all.

Title: Moonstruck (which is also the name of the story. Look, I couldn't think of anything better for now.)
Fandom: "Moonstruck," an original-fiction story of mine, posted for werewolfbigbang
Subject: What happens when your father turns into a werewolf and your family starts to fray.
Cross-posted: werewolfbigbang
Warnings: Some of the songs might be a little violent, I guess.
Notes: My story went unclaimed and I already had a (way too long) playlist for it, so I figured I'd just make a mix for my own story. The songs aren't in any particular order (at least not at the moment) and there are too many of them, and...I probably would not include "Second Chance" except it actually provided a semi-significant plot point in my story. So. I also made the cover art, mostly from combinations of this and this, but faeriemaiden helped because she's awesome like that and sometimes I fail at cover art. ...and yes, the mix title is the same as the story title. I will probably fix that.

Title: The One Who Fights
Fandom: Sins of the Fathers (original-fiction vampire story written for fantasybigbang)
Subject: Vampires, and fighting them, and learning that everything you know might be a lie.
Cross-posted: fantasybigbang
Warnings: I suppose some of the vampire songs might be a little violent? You know...as such things tend to be.
Notes: This is my mix for summer_moth's fantasybigbang story "Sins of the Fathers". Please forgive the cover art, it's been a long time since I've done any major image-editing and I'm rusty at best. (Plus I've never quite figured out how to make good cover art. Not sure why.) The songs aren't in any particular order, mostly because if I tried to make them all perfect I would never get this done, but I did try to chart Amy's journey and her family background.
